QUAMICHAN MIDDLE SCHOOL

There were two separate schools with this name.

The first Quamichan School opened in 1883 and closed in 1919. Mrs. Anne Monk was the first teacher at this public school built on land purchased by the Bishop of British Columbia with money donated by Baroness Angela Burdett-Coutts. For a time the building was used as a Scout hall until it burnt down sometime in the 1980s.  The school was located at what is now 5847 Indian Road, Duncan.

The second Quamichan School opened in 1961 as Quamichan Junior Secondary School (aka Quamichan Middle School) at 2515 Beverly Street, Duncan.  Today (2015) this school is known as Quamichan Campus, Cowichan Secondary School.
