THETIS ISLAND SCHOOL
Thetis Island School
The first school on Thetis Island was a crude building on the shore of Telegraph Harbour. It opened in September 1920 with 15 students under teacher, Mr. A. Tomlinson. In 1922 the school was relocated to a new building on Forbes Road.
The current building was built in 1951 with a teacherage added in 1955. At that time the school was under the jurisdiction of the Nanaimo School District. In 1967 the jurisdiction changed to Ladysmith School District, and then in 1973 to Cowichan School District.
